Day-Wise Detailed Itinerary
Arrival in Cochin
On arrival at Cochin Airport or Ernakulam Railway Station, you'll be picked up and transferred to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day exploring the sights of this charming coastal city. Overnight stay in Cochin.
Cochin to Munnar
After breakfast, drive roughly 4 hours to Munnar, a hill station perched 1,600 metres above sea level at the meeting point of three mountain streams. Check into your hotel and spend the rest of the day on local sightseeing. Overnight stay in Munnar.
Munnar Sightseeing
Spend the day exploring this former summer retreat of the British colonial government, taking in Mattupetty Dam, Kundale Lake, and Echo Point. In the afternoon, head to Rajamalai / Eravikulam, home to the rare Nilgiri Tahr mountain goat. Overnight stay in Munnar.
Munnar to Thekkady
Check out after breakfast and drive around 4 hours to Thekkady, home to one of the world's most renowned wildlife reserves. The Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary spans 777 sq km, most of it dense evergreen forest, and was declared a Tiger Reserve in 1978. Optional add-ons such as a Periyar Lake boat ride, spice plantation visit, and elephant ride are available at extra cost. Overnight stay in Thekkady.
Thekkady to Kumarakom
After breakfast, head to Kumarakom on the banks of Lake Vembanad. Try your hand at cracking and grating fresh coconut the way locals do, then visit the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, home to thousands of resident and migratory bird species. Overnight stay in Kumarakom.
Kumarakom to Alleppey — Houseboat Cruise
Check out and drive to Alleppey for an overnight backwater cruise aboard a traditional Kerala houseboat. Check-in is around 1:00 PM, with lunch served as the cruise begins. Drift past swaying coconut groves and paddy fields while meals are served on board. Overnight stay on the houseboat.
Alleppey to Kovalam
After checkout from the houseboat, drive around 3.5 hours to Kovalam, visiting Trivandrum's Padmanabhaswamy Temple, the museum, and Shangumugham Beach along the way. Check into your hotel on arrival. Overnight stay in Kovalam.
Kovalam Sightseeing
Enjoy a relaxed day at Kovalam beach, taking in the sunrise and sunset, and visit the 18th-century Vizhinjam Rock-Cut Cave Temple. Overnight stay in Kovalam.
Kovalam to Kanyakumari
After breakfast, drive to Kanyakumari, located at the southernmost tip of the Indian subcontinent, where spiritual leader Swami Vivekananda once meditated on a rock off the coast. Visit sights such as Padmanabhapuram Palace, Suchindram Temple, the Kanyakumari Amman Temple, and the Vivekananda Memorial, and enjoy the famous Kanyakumari sunset. Overnight stay in Kanyakumari.
Kanyakumari to Rameswaram
After an early breakfast, check out and drive to Rameswaram. In the afternoon, visit the Ramanathaswamy Temple, Agni Theertham, Ramjharoka Temple, Dhanushkodi, and Adam's Bridge. Overnight stay in Rameswaram.
Rameswaram to Madurai
After an early breakfast, check out and drive to Madurai. In the afternoon, explore the Meenakshi Amman Temple, Koodal Azhagar Temple, Alagar Kovil, and the Lord Murugan Temple. Overnight stay in Madurai.
Madurai — Departure
After breakfast and checkout, enjoy a bit of local sightseeing before transferring to Madurai Airport or Railway Station (as per your travel plans) for your onward journey home, bringing a close to your memorable holiday in God's Own Country.
